HawkbitAlpha (also known as Wedge; formerly known by other names including Prince Darkstar and ACSBehemothHellcat) is a YSFlight pilot who originally joined the community in spring 2011, best known as the leader of VCAP Aerobatics, and previously as a leading officer in the 2nd United Combat Wing from 2020 to 2023.
History[]
After discovering YSFlight in 2010, HawkbitAlpha (then flying under the name ACSBehemothHellcat) entered the online community the next year, almost immediately getting off to a rough start with several major squadrons (primarily the 171st) by consistently breaking server rules. Over the next few years, Hawkbit tried his hand at a number of different ventures, with varying degrees of success. The most notable of these was his creation in August 2011 of Intercontinental Airways VA, one of the first of a wave of virtual airlines to launch on YSFHQ in the same year. Some time after IAVA's decline, and after being banned from YSFHQ in 2014 for unclear reasons, Hawk joined GrunSolutions PMC and began a short run as a combat pilot, taking part in the early stages of the squadron's war with the VFA-49th. He eventually went inactive in late 2016 due to switching to a satellite internet connection.

Aside from a brief return in 2018 to take part in an attempt by members of SARF to form an aerobatics team, Hawkbit would not be seen again in the online YSFlight community until March 2020, during the first COVID-19 lockdowns. After a short stint as a member of the 365th, Hawkbit joined the 2nd United Combat Wing to become its fourth Mamba (air-to-air combat) pilot, officially taking on the callsign "Wedge". While part of 2UCW, he hosted the squadron's YSFlight server, and was promoted twice: once to XO in September 2020, and again in June 2022 to CO. Hawk amicably resigned from the squadron overall in February 2023, citing a combination of burnout in combat and a desire to shift his focus to aerobatics.
While serving as 2UCW XO, in July 2021, Hawk and squadron pilot Gordo co-founded the YS Military Airshows Association, an aerobatics organization intended to host airshows focusing on displays from both YSFlight squadrons and real-life air forces. However, YSMAA quickly outgrew its original purpose, and instead became the primary host of general airshows on YSFHQ. This led Hawk to separate the organization from 2UCW in April 2022, and rebrand it as an all-purpose airshow promotion, now known as VCAP Aerobatics. The organization's public symbol is Hawk's signature aircraft, Whizzing Arrow III, a highly-modified F-20 Tigershark customized to his standards by veteran modder Swift. Following his leave from 2UCW, Whizzing Arrow III was reassigned to fly under the banner of Hawk's original community, Task Force 51.

In his capacity as leader of VCAP, Hawk is YSFHQ's primary organizer of airshows, having hosted all events since VCAP's launch with the 2021 YS Royal International Air Tattoo. In addition to serving as host, he also provides live narration to scripted acts in VCAP's events, acting as the "voice" of the organization. As a YS aerobatic pilot in his own right, Hawk is most known for his eccentric and frequently dangerous solo performances, as well as his use of choreographed engine sound effects accompanying the Whizzing Arrow III display.
