Airshows are regular events organized, typically several times per year, by the aerobatics communities of YSFlight, centered around flying demonstrations and exhibitions. The earliest known YSFlight airshow events were hosted in the mid-2000s on YSPilots by Scarecrow of YS Airshows, establishing the events as one of the most popular traditions of the English-speaking YSFlight community. Today, the most well-known airshows are hosted through YSFlight Headquarters by VCAP Aerobatics and the YS Aerobatic Association (YSAA). Taking place on specialized servers, these events, in addition to the performers themselves, are open for spectators to attend freely.
YSFlight airshows have been known to take on different themes on certain occasions, with restrictions placed on the types of aircraft and performances which can be featured. Notable examples include the YSAA Warbird and Light Aviation Show, which focuses on general light aviation and older, retired military aircraft; and the 2018 YSAS Chanute Airshow '87, a recreation of a hypothetical airshow taking place in the year 1987. Many YSFlight airshows, however, are open to submissions of all types of aviation, ranging from warbirds to light aircraft, and from current military hardware to fictional aircraft and organizations.
Airshows are typically hosted several times in any given year on YSFHQ. To date, the only exception has been in 2020, in which only a single airshow, the Chicago Air & Water Show, took place in November; all others planned within the year were cancelled.
